Product Development Practice Lead Position

Sproutr is looking for an experienced Commercial Product Development
Practice Lead to support new product innovation and growth.
Sproutr is a new, first-of-its-kind underwriting and product-building firm who exists to accelerate and support insurance-focused companies and Insurtechs in need of “builder” skills. We are looking for a self-described and motivated insurance nerd who has proven, technical
insurance skills wanting to tilt their practical underwriting experience towards the next
generation of underwriting in the Insurance/Insurtech space.
The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely wants to advance the insurance industry by
applying their experience in new ways. You will be joining a company designed to launch new
insurance products/programs.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Oversee all aspects of Sproutr’s product development practice including product and process design, workflow, production and implementation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary functions of underwriting and compliance.

Use your industry subject-matter expertise to both “lead and do” in service of client deliverables. Serve as a contributor, communicator, and drafter of the final work product including but not limited to applying core underwriting principles to emerging and developing risks, review underwriting guidelines, and recommend the product outcomes stemming from the guidelines and business objective.

Ability to deconstruct traditional product development processes into simplified and elegant steps (agile and/or design thinking is encouraged) providing consulting to clients on tailored solutions.

Perform required industry research, product discovery, and continual learning to use underwriting guidelines to support profitability for the clients’ program/product lines.

Stay ahead of regulatory and compliance changes, as well as liability exposure trends that could impact clients.

In collaboration with Sproutr leadership, participate in resource allocation and capacity planning including evaluation of tools budget and utilization.

Work with cross-functional team members to put optimal programs and products together; such as actuarial, data modeling, sales, coverage counsel, operational and technical product management / engineering.

Lead meetings with clients, setting up project plans in coordination with Sproutr product development leads, conduct periodic client check-ins and ensure deliverables meet client expectations.

Provide leadership to Product Development Practice team, helping to attract, grow, and develop talent.

As an industry thought leader, be visible and active in P&C Insurance industry events to attract new and maintain clients and promote the brand of Sproutr.

QUALIFICATIONS - YOU ARE AN EXPERT AT SEVERAL OF THESE

Experience with multiple lines of business within Commercial Property, Casualty or Speciality Lines serving the small and middle market business sector

Underwriting, insurance program management, insurance product development, insurance product management, compliance background
-
Experience working in or supporting MGA/MGU and/or with a Property & Casualty (P&C) carrier, insurance consultancy practice or Insurtech
-
Tangible results and track-record

Project management and governance, ability to effectively manage multiple projects with the ability to prioritize high-impact work

Coverage language drafting experience or familiarity of the process

Operational mindset, you know how the pieces fit together

Knowledge of how to translate underwriting requirements into policy admin systems effectively

Solid math, analytical and/or quantitative skills

Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Excel, product authoring programs
