Sproutr is looking for a Actuarial Analyst to support new product innovation and growth.

We are looking for a self-described and motivated insurance nerd who has proven, technical
insurance skills wanting to tilt their practical underwriting experience towards the next
generation of underwriting in the Insurance/Insurtech space.


The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely wants to advance the insurance industry by
applying their experience in new ways. You will be joining a company designed to launch new
insurance products/programs.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Work alongside the Product Development and Underwriting teams to provide pricing expertise in support of a holistic insurance product approach that unifies rates, rules, product, underwriting guidelines, and third-party data

  • Prepare pricing proposals and develop support for state rate filings, as well as respond to inquiries from state examiners

  • Perform required industry research, product discovery, and continual learning to support clients’ program/product lines. 

  • Build tools to help clients implement their rate plans accurately and compliantly as well as build test cases to confirm client policy administration systems develop premium accurately

  • Build exhibits that concisely compare the rate landscape for a particular class or line of business for a client

  • Create, organize, and maintain rate manuals for a variety of lines of coverage

  • Work with cross-functional team members to put the pieces together, such as underwriting, product development, data modeling, sales, coverage counsel, operational and technical product management / engineering

QUALIFICATIONS - YOU ARE AN EXPERT AT SEVERAL OF THESE

​​​

  • 3-5+ years of actuarial experience

  • Experience working in or supporting MGA/MGU and/or with a Property & Casualty (P&C) carrier, insurance consultancy practice or Insurtech

  • Comprehensive understanding of multiple lines of business within Commercial Property, Casualty or Specialty Lines

  • Experience pricing both bureau and non-bureau based rate plans

  • Able to creatively build unique rate plans, with a knack for clearly communicating with state regulators to gain approval

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • A clear understanding of how various elements interconnect within the insurance industry and the ability to apply this knowledge operationally

  • Open to candidates that are not pursuing an exam track
