Underwriting Implementation Specialist Position

Sproutr is looking for an Underwriting Implementation Specialist to support new product innovation and growth.

Sproutr is a new, first-of-its-kind underwriting and product-building firm who exists to accelerate and support insurance-focused companies and Insurtechs in need of “builder” skills. We are subject-matter experts in our respective disciplines and look to use that experience in a more integrated, holistic manner.

We are looking for a self-described and motivated insurance nerd who has proven, technical
insurance skills wanting to tilt their practical underwriting experience towards the next
generation of underwriting in the Insurance/Insurtech space.

The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely wants to advance the insurance industry by
applying their experience in new ways. You will be joining a company designed to launch new
insurance products/programs.



  • Taking your lead from the Product Development and Underwriting teams, you will translate insurance procedures, guidelines, product, rules, third-party data, and rating into implementation processes; create if/then conditional statements and frameworks to support system implementation.

  • Investigate, identify and articulate where (and how) leveraging data sets or inserting automated underwriting solutions is appropriate

  • Perform required industry research, product discovery, and continual learning to support clients’ program/product lines

  • Translate written underwriting guidelines into programmable assets/specifications

  • Suggest or design operating procedures for underwriting processes integrated into systems used to support risk-based decision making

  • Create well communicated and detailed test cases for new builds and change requests

  • Perform user-testing on behalf of clients to validate business requirements and specifications work as intended, communicate results back as required

  • Work with cross-functional team members to put the pieces together, such as underwriting, product development, actuary, data modeling, sales, coverage counsel, operational and technical product management /engineering

  • You are interested in learning and understanding how multi-disciplinary insurance practices work together include rating, product development, portfolio management and sales

  • You are resourceful and can develop solutions creatively 

  • You are patient, emotionally intelligent, and flexible when life happens around you 


  • Proven background as an analyst or in a role demanding high-level analytical skills  

  • Comprehensive understanding of multiple lines of business within Commercial Property, Casualty or Specialty Lines

  • Underwriting, insurance program management, insurance product configuration

  • Experience working in or supporting MGA/MGU and/or with a Property & Casualty (P&C) carrier, insurance consultancy practice or Insurtech

  • Direct and recent experience with policy admin systems, product implementation or change management processes

  • A clear understanding of how various elements interconnect within the insurance industry and the ability to apply this knowledge operationally.

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, policy admin systems
